Sustainable Tourism and Green Globe Certification
The Green Globe Certification is awarded to members of the travel and tourism community that exhibit a commitment to sustainable tourism by meeting the Green Globe criteria. Always a trendsetter in luxury tourism, Hotel Concorde Berlin was the first hotel in Germany to achieve the Green Globe certification in 2010. Since then, the hotel’s outstanding performance in sustainable operations, led to the honor of Green Globe’s Highest Achievement Award in 2011 in the Hotel & Resort category.
In 2012 the Hotel Concorde Berlin was able to lower their energy costs by 5.1 % and also saved 94,000 m³ of water. In addition, waste management cost were reduced by 31% as well as the total amount of waste produced. Due to these improvements in performance the hotel achieved the Green Globe certification in 2012 again.
General Manager Carsten Colmorgen ensures that the hotel operates under the highest ecologically and socially sustainable standards to reduce it’s environmental footprint. The Hotel Concorde Berlin proves that sustainability and luxury are not mutually exclusive concepts. For example, Le Faubourg, the french brasserie within the hotel, sources 40% of their ingredients from local and regional suppliers. The five star hotel also encourages guests to take environmentally friendly modes of transportation by providing bike rentals, inspiring them to engage with the local community surrounding Kurfürstendamm.
The entire team at Hotel Concorde Berlin is commited to providing excellent service and hospitality while reducing the effect of their operations on the environment.
