Nervous Stars and Flying Food at the Brasserie Le Faubourg
This Friday 26th, the German Film Prize awards ceremony – Germany’s answer to the Oscars – will be taking place at the magnificent Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin. Amongst the nominees are Martina Gedeck, who the Sunday Times described as Germany’s Meryl Streep; Tom Schilling, the star of cult Berlin hit Oh Boy; and Tom Tykwer, one of Germany’s most famous directors. They and many other stars will all be hoping to get their hands on a LOLA – the statuette handed out at the German Film Prize each year which is named after Marlene Dietrich’s infamous nightclub singer in the classic 1931 film The Blue Angel. Not to mention some serious prize money which could help them fund their next film. The Hotel Concorde Berlin is proud partner of the awards, and honoured to be hosting a special reception before the ceremony.
The Brasserie Le Faubourg has put together a delicious ‘flying’ menu for the event and there will also be plenty of expertly-mixed drinks courtesy of the Lutèce Bar to help calm nerves and get the guests into the party spirit – after all, despite the serious and important work the German Film Academy (who host the awards) do, this is also one of the industry’s biggest celebrations. The menu is sure to impress with everything from salmon fillet with violet potato croquettes and courgette; guinea fowl breast with chorizo mousse and shiso cress; cured duck breast with rosemary brioche; raspberry financier with custard; to colourful macaroons sticks…
If you would like to experience the glamour and excitement of the awards, make sure you tune in to the live coverage on ZDF from 22:15 or head down to the red carpet in front of the Friedrichstadt-Palast for some star-spotting!
