Getting To Know Our Kiez – Boutique Dibel Berlin.
Boutique Dibel has been in business in Berlin City West since 1986 and currently operates two locations, one on Kurfürstendamm and another on Mommsenstraße. A high end women’s fashion store, Boutique Dibel sells clothing from over 25 different big name designers like Valentino, Chloé and Nina Ricci.
As the lovely gracious shop owner Isabella Chinkman listed off the various designers’ names, my heart joyously skipped a beat. This shop was heaven for a fashionista like me! When she told me that her store is the only one in Berlin that exclusively carries certain labels like Sonia Rykiel and Barbara Bui, I had to suppress a delighted squeal.
You can pretty much find anything at Boutique Dibel, whether it be casual wear for every day use like blue jeans or more formal and elegant evening gowns for special occasions. There’s business suits, jackets, purses, belts, shoes etc. all which are constantly being refreshed.
Isabella confessed that she really loves her job and is really passionate about her boutique. She’s hard at work every day and even when she’s away shopping in Milan or Paris to order pieces for next season’s collections, she keeps close tabs on what’s happening in the store. She wants to know who came in, what they bought or what they didn’t buy.
As I stood there speaking with her, she stopped at times to welcome customers into the shop, offer them coffee and ran to the storeroom to bring out different outfits for them to consider. She offers private parking to her patrons, will open the store on Sunday if necessary and even offers alteration/delivery services.
For this, Isabella has gained such a loyal following that most of her customers keep on coming back. She knows their tastes and goes out of her way to help them find outfits that suit them. Over time she gets to know them so well, that they come to feel like family (who she incidentally gets to know too).
Boutique Dibel is truly a special place and well worth a stop the next time you’re in Berlin.
