Berlin Art Week: abc Highlights
Art enthusiasts take note: Berlin Art Week is nearly upon us. Running from September 17th – 22nd, the event will feature ten institutions as well as a number of art fairs including art berlin contemporary, of which Hôtel Concorde Berlin are proud to be exclusive official hotel partner.
Featuring over 130 international galleries, art berlin contemporary or abc is now in its sixth year, a well established art fair which consciously focuses on artistic practice. Highlights will include Berlin-based Buchmann Galerie’s exhibition on sculptor William Tucker, and also the installation artwork of German artist Julius von Bismarck, which will be showcased by Alexander Levy gallery; also based in Berlin.
Galleries from further afield include Bischoff Projects gallery from Frankfurt presenting the photography of New York Based artist Rayn McGinley, and LA based Freedman Fitzpatrick Young Gallery. The latter will present the sound installations of swiss artist Hannah Weinberger in the form of six large stones converted into speakers which will be spread around the fair, subtly informing visitor’s experiences.
Abc’s program will also be complemented by “Upcoming Exhibitions”, a project in which a new exhibition will be produced and initiated by one of 14 invited international project spaces in abc’s entrance area every two hours. Further variety will be added to the program in terms of artist lectures and talks with the micro festival Miss Read, specialising in international art book publishing.
